90% of our Peak Bone Mass is determined by the time we are around 18 years old
Did you know that in adulthood, we begin to lose more calcium from our bones than we can replace? The more calcium bone mass we can develop during childhood, the less likely it is that bones will become fragile.
That’s why it’s essential that you take care of your child’s bones when they’re young. *Bone strength is referred to as Peak Bone Mass (PBM).
The Importance of Calcium!
Calcium is essential because it gives strength to bones and teeth. Since our bodies can’t make calcium, it is important that children get enough in their diet.*
An easy way to meet kids’ calcium needs:
3 dairy portions a day.
A glass of milk, a piece of cheddar-type cheese and 1 small pot of Petits Filous fromage frais provides children with their daily calcium needs.

Petits Filous contains Calcium and Vitamin D, which help bone development!
Yogurts and fromage frais contain calcium, but not all of them have vitamin D, which helps absorb calcium.
Vitamin D is necessary to help the body absorb calcium from food. Sunshine is the main source of Vitamin D but it can be tough for kids to get enough sun. So children also need to obtain it through their diet.
Few foods naturally contain Vitamin D but luckily some foods, such as Petits Filous fromage frais, are fortified with it.
